Sparx Insider Insights: Georgie, Product Director

This is a great place to work for someone like me. I love the fact that everybody feeds off each other – and that we get to see things being tested in class that we’ve worked on and refined together. Teamwork here is central to our work. And it’s so much more genuine and innate than the ‘teamwork’ approach I’ve experienced elsewhere.

Every day, I find myself combining all of my skills with incredible attention to detail in a dynamic environment where the challenges are always shifting, the ideas are always flowing and the creative collaboration is creating a step change in education. What more could I ask for?

One of my key challenges is thinking about what the right thing to do is in each tiny step of what we’re creating. How do we actually go about teaching students a particular concept, for example? I’m using my maths degree training in terms of my analytical, logical and structured approach. There’s always a lot of information and ideas going on in your head here and you have to be able to deal with that calmly, and in an efficient and productive way.

It’s a very dynamic place to work, one where everyone’s working on their own initiative, with drive and tangible enthusiasm. Of course, we’re all excited about maths and the learning process too. You have to care about what you’re doing and the particular lesson you’re trying to deliver at any given time.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re shy or an extrovert – it’s your ideas and insight that count here. We’re a small team that’s doing big, brilliant things. And everyone’s fully involved every step of the way.
